Alphas and Omegas Book Five
120 days. Lincolnshire has exactly this much time to clear out before the Omega Syndicate lays waste to the town and their Active control mechanisms. Think they’re kidding? Just ask the American air force bases and military targets they’ve been destroying all over the globe. Back in Lincolnshire, Charlotte is suddenly sick, and Jessamine is suddenly back in the picture. With time running out, Michael needs to get himself together in order to do something, anything, to save his town from the wrath of the Syndicate.
Excerpt from Super Beta
Someone’s head was blown up on screen, enormously huge. Michael could make out the pores on his ugly face, and he could definitely see the acne scars, the hairy moles, and the ear hair. Egads, the ear hair. He had mismatched eyes: one blue and the other green.
“Hello Lincolnshire,” he said. “Do not attempt to adjust your screens. Do not try to trace this signal, you’ll only find that it comes from somewhere within your fair town. Unsettling, I know.”
The man smiled an apology.
“Nine months ago your Alpha team and young Master Washington did the Omega Syndicate a favor. A huge favor. You destroyed the man who had been holding us back. All the time, he was promising, promising he would set us free. Instead he did the same thing your government has been doing to the Active residents here in Lincolnshire: he held us back from our true potential. He stopped us from using our abilities.
“That’s over. You see, the Omega Syndicate is free from this day forward, and we have no doubt that your little Alpha team, what’s left of them, is going to try to locate us and stop us. You will fail. At the same time, we have every confidence we will be rejected by any country we attempt to reside in. Therefore we are waging war on two hundred fronts, people of Lincolnshire. We are going to destroy every governing body on the planet. Omega wanted to make everyone an Active. We have no such goals. We want to be left alone, and since we know that is impossible, we must act before we are destroyed.
“We have the greatest respect for what your people did to Omega, the shackles you cut off. Whether you knew it or not, you were allowing us to race unchecked through the world, to achieve the goals we wish. Out of respect for you, we will give you four months.
“Pack your bags, citizens. Pry open the iron fist that holds you back. Free yourselves from the shackles placed upon you. After four months, Omega will descend upon Lincolnshire like something out of the Bible. No stone will be left whole. In four months, Lincolnshire will be completely destroyed. Merry Christmas, and enjoy the freedom you should have been allowed to enjoy all along. Consider it a gift from the Omega Syndicate.”
The man’s face vanished, flashing the date for four months from now: December 25th. Then a countdown began: three months, twenty-nine days, twenty three hours and fifty nine minutes, fifty nine seconds. Fifty eight seconds.
Michael discovered Brian next to him, staring down at the way Charlotte’s eyes were rolling around in her head. Brian never said more than was necessary.
“Hospital. Call her mom. Come on.”
